Mixed feelings...

This has really been a mixed week..Infact, the past three weeks have been really chaotic and messy..It was mostly due to an abundance of assignments. Every single day was a dateline. And it has turned me into a total freak! The daily routine was completely changed. I could not even get a minute nap! As I was pondering on the reality of student's life, it was undeniably exhausting though to have been through such hard weeks.

This particular week has delivered unwanted news for me; my friends died this week. It happened in just two respective days. Although the two are distance friends, I still felt sorry and sad to have heard such shocking news. There were similarities in both deaths in which I feared the most. They died in different freak accidents at two different places. They also died at such young age of 23 and 22.

On Monday, 12th October 2009, if I'm not mistaken, it was my former teammate in Sanzo Wanderers(previous name for IPIK football club where I played for few games) who died in an accident in Tangkak. He died on the spot! I was shocked to almost to have broken into tears! As the sad and grief are yet to disappear, another shock news rocked my heart. This time it was the death of my ex-schoolmate in Sekolah Menengah Sains Mohomad Jiwa, Sungai Petani. Her name is Fatimatussolihah binti Aziz. She was studying in Chennai, India where the same place the freak accident that cost her life occured! Although, all our lives, we have never ever spoken to each other, we still grew up in the same school for five memorable years. It was still a terrible news to hear. May Allah bless the two of them.

You can read more on it here-

Pelajar perubatan Malaysia terbunuh dalam kemalangan di Chennai

Apart from all sad and unwanted stories, I can now sigh a relief. It is because once I have got the exam slip, it means that this semester is going to end soon. Although ending the semester does not sound too good as there were still more work to be completed, still I just cannot wait for the anticipating break. break for me does not really mean I can relax. Actually, I have planned few projects for this coming break. Such projects really need me to commit myself most of the time. That explains why I have been wanting for it to end soon.

So, that somehow explains the mixed week I meant. I just hope that I will be able to go through the coming weeks with no problems.

Barely realize it's coming to an end soon....

I was not shocked to see the last time I wrote an entry was almost a month ago...I have been very busy with a lot of assignments, duties and tasks..Those somehow made me forget to update my blog..However I was at fault because even if I was occupied, I still had time to be active on other social networking sites...

So far we have been occupying ourselves with video editing skills. We were assigned to produce a video of any theme and topic. My partner and I have been working very closely toward completing the video. As the distance matter, therefore we divided the work equally. However, that did not let any of us being left behind and not knowing what happens.

Apart from that, there were couples of Powerpoint presentations on some articles and topics. All those work are done in groups. The presentations were also done in masses. Working with different group members in each and every task sometimes make things complicated. It is because we were confused as the tasks were queuing up and the members were reshuffled again and again. In fact, we all believe it should have been easier and simpler if we remained in the same group.

Nevertheless, the lesson to be learned was we should somehow be able to manage even if the instruction is troublesome. That is important as it could serve as an early test before all of us go out to teach and being put under people who holds the authority.

Now the semester is nearing an end. I am having a mixed feelings. Part of me is happy. The other side of me feel most of the things will be sorely missed. However, I will be relieved as all of us will leave all the past things behind and be focusing on what is coming next.

Submission Week

It was a week of no tutorial. Instead, it was the week to submit the tutorials. We have been assigned to do tutorials for picture editing, audio editing and also e-book. Thus, all tutorials were to be submitted on last Thursday.

I have to admit that it was a packed week. There were a lot of unfinished tasks and assignments. However, I should not have mulled over the workloads that I had. It was already in my to-do list. So, my mistake for leaving it until the last minute.

However, over the years, I actually have been doing last minute work. sometimes, it works as I was satisfied with the quality. Sometimes, it doesn't as it is clearly in bad quality. Usually, I have to be satisfied with whatever work I have produced. It was mostly due to time constraint and the need to complete it as soon as possible.

Of all the three tutorials, I feel that the most challenging part was audio editing. I have grown not to like audio editing I suppose. I have never had the want to do it. Everytime I try to get myself seriously in editing any audio, I suddenly feel undetermined. Therefore, admittedly, the products were not as good as it should be.

eventually, what is done is done. Hopefully, next time I will be able to master in audio editing.

Audio editing week.

I very much look forward to this week as I'll seriously get involved in audio editing. Not to say that i haven't involved in seriously before. There were a couple of times I did audio editing. However, I couldn't remember the experience already. Basically, I just did a simple editing like cutting the song clip.

This time it will a real experience editing audio. I hope to master every skill that any audio editing software has to offer. First I need to look up for any free software. Then only I can work on that.

Boboy Learnt His Lesson_on e-book

I would like to share with readers out there of how e-book can be created by using Microsoft Powerpoint. Basically, it is about using still pictures to create an electronic storybook. However, we can still manipulate every animation function that the software has to offer. As this was done in a hurry, therefore the quality might not be so good.

These are snippets of the actual one..I'll upload the completed story in my Skydrive soon. Be sure to leave comments in order for me to learn and improve.

p/s-here's the link to the actual e-book. The title of the story is: Boboy Learnt His Lesson

e-book

The lesson continues with another module. This time it was about developing e-book for learning. Obviously, it should be educational as it is specially created to educate children. It also serves as a very interactive and interesting teaching aid for teachers in classroom.

Firstly, from my point of view, e-book is of course an electronic book which is created using any computer software to show a story be it fairytales, folktales, fables and etc. There are various softwares availble and suitable to create an e-book. One can just even use Microsoft Word or Microsoft Powerpoint! These two simplest and easiest softwares are there to be exploited. In simple words, it all depends on one's creativity.

However as requested, we should be developing our very own e-book by only using Microsoft Powerpoint. For me, I personally feel that I will be interesting as we are going to explore beyond what we have done so far with that particular software. Previously, creating slideshows is synonimously associated with Microsoft Powerpoint. But, now we will be go a little beyond by creating simple animation by just using that software. Interesting, isn't it?

Hopefully, I'll be able to have my own e-book soon. It'll be handy later in my teaching.

Digital Storytelling Workshop at MK2

On 12th August 2009, all of us attended Digital Storytelling Workshop which was organized by Master students of Instructional Technology. For a record, I have already met all of the facilitators even before the workshop was carried out. I was one of the ten chosen students to be facilitators. Thus, they carried out a mock workshop prior to the real one. the ten of us attended.

videoWe were introduced with three new editing softwares which were very useful and interesting. No one was unimpressed, I bet. Those softwares are Photoscape; for photo editing, Audacity; for audio editing and Photostory; for creating slideshows. Frankly speaking, all softwares are new to me for I've never heard or seen before. So, I was quite anxious and eager to explore and also be tutored by the facilitators.

Progress continues...

As time passes by, the progress in the subject continues. Starting with Internet Skills, now we are learning photo editing. As Mdm Foziah had stressed it a couple of times that this particular ICT skill is very important for us as teachers in order to develop creative, interesting and interactive teaching aids.

I've been busy downloading free softwares for photo editing the previous week. Personally, I love editing photos especially adding effects. Since I'm still new with ICT, I haven't explored much. For photo editing, I've been trying Picasa a year ago. Frankly speaking, I've heard the software: Photoshop years ago. I even dreamt that one day I could have it one to edit photos and comics (b'cos I love to draw comics).

I finally got my hand on Photoshop and managed to explore it..though I just add minimal effect to my picture..I hope to do more with Photoshop later as I already have it in my PC..Plus, there are so many tutorials available in the net as well as Mdm Foziah's skydrive..thus, it'll be helpful for me and the rest too.
